Talk:Undeath (5e Subclass)
From D&D Wiki
This was a really bizarre page if I'm being honest; a subclass that reads and plays more like a sorcerer with half it's levels in something completely different, and also insanely OP, is a first for me. I removed the expanded spell list and undead companion entirely, since they just seem like warlock mechanics stapled on to a subclass, as well as the original 6th level feature(s) which, again, seem to just be an attempt at adding the mechanics for another class somewhere they don't fit.
- Fixed formatting issues.
- Changed flavor text to reflect the canon on undeath (i.e. you become undead after dying and being reanimated, and so can't be partially undead).
- Renamed "partially undead" and made it a 1st-level feature (not clear what it was even supposed to be). Removed the ability to reattach limbs, not that it should come up that often anyway, and added a clearer drawback to being undead.
- Removed everything else below 14th level, for reasons stated above.
- Reworded potent necromancy to be a straight damage boost.
- 18th level feature no longer gives immunity (!?) to most common types of damage, instead it just gives resistance.
Overall, I tried to move it away from being a class with a ton features thematically grouped around "Death", and towards being about altering how life and death are represented mechanically.
