Talk:Titan Scimitar (5e Equipment)
From D&D Wiki
You're using the 5e Variant Rule: Oversized, right? I suggest the following modifications:
- Reducing the damage to 2d6, for that's the rationale for oversized rule. 2d10 damage for a scimitar would be too strong, even for oversized standards. (Note: an ogre's greatclub deals a base damage of 2d8.)
- Adding the finesse property, or rather, adding a special rule for a similar effect. If it's a scimitar, maybe a Large creature can benefit from finesse property, although I assume that such chance would be slim, considering that many Large or even larger creatures lack Dexterity.
Other than that... I think this would make a cool oversized weapon! --WeirdoWhoever (talk) 11:52, 12 April 2017 (UTC)
- I wish I never made the oversized rule, this weapon shows how it breaks down. It's so heavy that I have disadvantage on attack rolls - but I can use my Dexterity modifier? Marasmusine (talk) 18:27, 18 April 2017 (UTC)
- Solution: Add an addendum that only Large or high-Strength creatures (or however it works) can use the finesse property of an oversized weapon, thereby making the variant rule just that little bit more complicated. Tada! :P (JK, I feel your pain bro.) I think the halberd in Dark Souls 1 was like that; higher Str requirement than Dex, but better scaling with Dex. Sometimes it just makes an infuriating amount of sense that way. Knowlessman (talk) 22:13, 18 April 2017 (UTC)
