Talk:Time Devil (3.5e Creature)
From D&D Wiki
Opinion[edit]
This could easily be scaled down to a much lower CR by dropping HD and defensive abilities (Regeneration, DR, SR, immunity/resistance). Its Alacrity and Slow abilities are not necessarily high-level abilities by themselves. That being said, I do not intend to alter this article, but it might be better off as a low CR/HD creature with the option of increasing HD and CR, or one might simply create a Time Devil and an Advanced or Elder Time Devil (this version being the Advanced/Elder version of the creature). —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 156.56.129.124 (talk • contribs) 16:34, 25 February 2009 (MDT). - Well first off, I'd like to thank you for your interest in the creature. Now then, I can't very effectively remove the immunity/resistance, seeing as all devils are intended to have them, but all your other suggestions have a pretty good point (though I disagree on the Alacrity point, because as is, they can take a move action (10 squares for them), and then attack twice, combine that with the spring attack feat (if you give it to them), the haste spell (from it's own spell-like abilities list), and you have a creature that has just dealt 2d8+16 damage to you, and ended his turn outside your total (more than likely) move speed), and I think that a normal time devil/elder time devil would be a really interesting idea, I think I may implement that, though I'd have to change ability scores too, can't be having a CR10 creature with 40 dex now can we? - First of all, sorry about not signing the post, I always forget to do that. I also wasn't thinking about the general Devil traits that it would need to retain. Hm, you make a good point about using Spring Attack, too. Still, I am glad you like the idea of Lesser/Elder versions (or whatever) of this creature. I really think it is neat, and was thinking it would be a very cool monster for a lower-level party to encounter, giving them the feeling of fighting something far out of their league (time abilities are generally high up there) while presenting a challenge that can actually be overcome by a group of 5-7 characters at least. 149.159.40.32 11:51, 10 March 2009 (MDT)
- Heh, it's no problem man. And yeah, spring attack can be a very powerful feat if you use it in the right situation. So yeah, I'll try and remake this page and create a Elder/Lesser Time Devil before tomorrow. (Also, I agree on the idea of a lower level party taking on one of these things and having a rough time with it, but still managing to pull through.) → Rith (talk) 15:06, 10 March 2009 (MDT)
- The creature should have time stop 1/day. Just my opinion. --Lord Dhazriel 15:57, 10 March 2009 (MDT)
- Maybe the "Elder version" could have Time Stop, but that strikes me more in the realm of the epic level Phane, of which this seems to be a more reasonable offshoot. 149.159.40.32 16:23, 10 March 2009 (MDT)
- (Hmm, I'd never taken a look at the phane's stats before, they are very... interesting) Yeah, I actually don't remember why I didn't have time stop up there the first time I made it, I think I might throw that onto the elder time devil (seeing as the reason the phane is epic is because he can toss a copy of a character out there, and not because he can cast time stop). But yeah, time to get started. → Rith (talk) 19:23, 10 March 2009 (MDT)
