Talk:The Prodigal Sorcerer: Optimizing Magic Missile (5e Optimized Character Build)

I couldn't figure out how to get the Needs Balance template to work, so I will post the problem here; you cannot take Agonizing blast with Eldritch Adept unless you have at least one level of Warlock.

Bob is correct, Agonizing Blast cannot be grabbed with Eldritch Adept unless you are already a Warlock.[edit]

If the invocation has a prerequisite, you can choose that invocation only if you're a warlock and only if you meet the prerequisite.

Relevant text from Agonizing Blast
Prerequisite: eldritch blast cantrip

If an Invocation has a prerequisite, you must be a Warlock to take it, Agonizing Blast has a prerequisite, ergo, you must be a Warlock to take it. AmeyBoop (talk) 07:15, 26 February 2023 (MST)

Magic Missile is not an attack, and you can't cast Magic Missile on the same turn that you Quicken Eldritch Blast.[edit]

If there's ever any question whether something you're doing counts as an attack, the rule is simple: if you're making an attack roll, you're making an attack
PHB 194; No attack roll for Magic Missile, ergo not an attack.

A spell cast with a bonus action is especially swift. You must use a bonus action on your turn to cast the spell, provided that you haven't already taken a bonus action this turn. You can't cast another spell during the same turn, except for a cantrip with a casting time of 1 action.
PHB 202
