Designer's note

The automatic 2d8 damage might seem a bit odd. Considering this could affect a lot of creatures many times over the course of its duration (for relatively small amounts of damage no less), it seemed worthwhile to just have a flat 2d8 damage without calling for numerous Dex saves to halve each instance of 3d8 damage. To me at least it seems thematically fitting too, considering a barrage of constantly-shooting lightning seems almost impossible to evade. - Guy (talk) 04:15, 15 August 2017 (MDT)
