This subclass really lack some non-combat feature. Most, if not all fighter subclasses give something or at 3rd or at 7th level non related to combat, and some give it at both 3rd and 7th levels.
Also, this class should require for the player choose to use the staff offensively (gaining the bonuses of versatile damage increasing) or defensively (gaining the shield bonus) but not both at the same time.
