I posted it in an attempt to get feedback so I could refine the concept. --Redrum 14:07, 19 August 2017 (MDT)

I don't care if Runestaves are added or modified as long as there is at least 1 that has the Dispel Magic spell on the List. --Redrum 17:32, 8 November 2017 (MST)

Regarding Item Balance and Origin[edit]

Noting the dispute on this page, I'd like to comment: Runestaves were a 3.5e item in OGL that offered an alternative way for spellcasters to cast spells, as well as artificially expand their spells known (via substituting spells prepared or spell slots with spells stored in the staves). They existed alongside scrolls and traditionally are much more valuable and impacted the game in a more meaningful way.

While 5e provides different features and balance levels than 3.5, I do firmly believe that the item can coexist alongside scrolls and is not out of place in DND.

That said, Runestaves are still considered staves in 3.5, and were created with the Craft Staff feat, so it is reasonable that they be placed under 5e Staffs, unless the conditions for 5th Editions items make them particularly uncharacteristic of that section, in which case, Wondrous items may be more appropriate. --Jwguy (talk) 17:15, 31 August 2017 (MDT)

There wasn't a dispute? I just wanted it to use the template, with the correct page title (which has now been done), and clarification about the spell slots. Marasmusine (talk) 03:33, 2 September 2017 (MDT)
I'd say templates always mark some level of dispute, since they indicate a break in consensus. Still, it doesn't matter too terribly much; I was just trying to offer some information on the subject, and we've got a wonderful new item out of all this. --Jwguy (talk) 14:52, 2 September 2017 (MDT)

Artifact[edit]

How about an Artifact level version of this? The spells I have in mind is Cure Wounds, Purify Food and Drink, Dispel Magic, Contagion, Heal, and True Resurrection. It's sentient (Int 10, Wis 15, Cha 15, AL CE). It is a key to a demiplane (or a series of demiplanes).--63.142.81.74 13:46, 2 February 2019 (MST)
