Talk:Primal Zerg (5e Race)
From D&D Wiki
I am going to mess with a lot of the lore here. Just FYI.--Dr Roach (talk) 21:56, 29 June 2017 (MDT)
I think this class is pretty unconventional, and might not play nice with the regular DnD classes. I'm new to wiki magic, so could someone add the "Here be Dragons" header?
- Yep, I will remove the stub template and add the appropriate template, you are right about this class being very cool and unique and has the potential for abuse.--Blobby383b (talk) 09:59, 1 July 2017 (MDT)
The Re-Balancing Issue[edit]
This race was recently marked as needing re-balancing. I am in disagreement. This race has a single core gimmick which I believes contributes directly to how much fun it would be to play. Besides, it has sat for several years under multiple lens of scrutiny without much change. If people truly see an issue with this race, why don't we brainstorm and offer some possible adjustments to it that would keep with the original spirit of the creator's intent? --ZarHakkar (talk) 01:41, 24 June 2018 (MDT)
- Wow, it has been quite a while since I have looked at this race, and although I still believe it to be unqiue/cool, I do think it needs some clarification/balance changes looking back at it. I do have an idea though that could potential make the race still very unique, but much more balanced. The idea is that instead of gaining random traits when you consume a creature, you would instead gain a single trait, if applicable(if the race has claws, you would gain a claw attack), from a list of ~30ish similarly balanced traits. The race would only be able to take 4/5 of these traits at any time and some very powerful traits would be worth more than 1 trait(special sense 2, flying equal to walk speed 3, ect).--Blobby383b (talk) 01:56, 24 June 2018 (MDT)
- That is an eloquent conceptual solution Blobbby and would solve a number of issues with the race. —ConcealedLight (talk) 02:01, 24 June 2018 (MDT)
- Hell yeah, now that's what I'm talking about! With some refinement this could definitely work (not to mention I had a similar idea for my Assimilitant race once I moved it). I wonder if the original creator or any contributors are still around to have a say in it or if the responsibility of making a catch-all table for assimilated traits falls on us.--ZarHakkar (talk) 02:16, 24 June 2018 (MDT)
- OP's only edit was almost 2 years ago and the other main contributor(User:Dr Roach) hasn't edited this page in over a year and has been inactive for quite a while now. The responsibility largely lies on us I believe to work on making this a usable race.--Blobby383b (talk) 02:28, 24 June 2018 (MDT)
