Talk:Power Word Bees (5e Spell)
From D&D Wiki
I Love It[edit]
OK, so, first of all, this spell is one of the few things on this site that has made me laugh. Secondly, aside from the fact that it is indeed a joke spell, What do you mean it's not designed for regular play?! As far as I can tell, it's perfectly balanced! XD I might even use it myself in one of my campaigns, just to terrify my players that they, too, could spontaneously erupt into bees. IntellectMaster (talk) 08:24, 26 December 2020 (MST)
- I second the above, it's beautiful. --Nuke The Earth (talk) 09:01, 26 December 2020 (MST)
- I wasn't sure if it was appropriate for "regular play" based off the fact that all published Power Words are enchantment spells and just due to the silliness factor. If i'm overthinking it and that doesn't matter, I'm happy to kill the tag. Glad y'all like it :) Malachai (talk) 18:17, 26 December 2020 (MST)
- No need to remove the tag, a balanced yet still ridiculous spell is perfectly acceptable as an april fool's page. In fact, the balanced ones are the best, because you can actually use them! --Nuke The Earth (talk) 19:16, 26 December 2020 (MST)
- Getting mixed signals now. The part that says "not designed for regular play / may affect balancing" is included in the april fools tag, I didn't write it. Is there a way to tag something as a joke without it also implying it's unbalanced? Malachai (talk) 19:43, 26 December 2020 (MST)
- The template is the way it is because of the tendency for joke items to interact with the rules in odd ways. For instance, there might be a joke item that takes the form of a rubber chicken which, when thrown at someone, causes them to explode into a cloud of feathers. All fun and games until the BBEG becomes a pillow. It's just to cover weird interactions like that. This spell doesn't have any of those weird interactions, but it's still a whimsical and fun page, and I think it deserves recognition as a joke page because it's so well-executed. --Nuke The Earth (talk) 20:01, 27 December 2020 (MST)
