Talk:Power Bow (3.5e Feat)
From D&D Wiki
"Heavy crossbows gain +3 damage for each point of BAB sacrificed." This is too much.
- Heavy crossbows can be fired every-other round. That mitigates the penalty. To really take advantage of this, you need an exotic crossbow proficiency and rapid reload. That's four feats to get a +3 to damage. That is balanced. Note that you do not get a strength bonus with crossbows, but strength is trivial with a regular bow. So while the archer is getting +4 strength bonus to damage, you get none. Even with this feat, you are getting less than that.--Dmilewski 07:11, 31 May 2008 (MDT)
I like the idea of this feat and it seems well executed (although there ought to be a precision damage clause on it), but I don't think power attack should be a prerequisite. I know it's the functional equivalent of Power Attack for ranged attacks, but it really shouldn't require 13 str to get this feat. --Eardatch 21:31, 2 June 2009 (MDT)
- It didn't like it, it was too general, and conceptually doesn't make sense for mechanical weapons.
- I've rewritten it to apply only to composite bows, and limited it to their strength modifier rating. Marasmusine (talk) 05:17, 23 November 2014 (MST)
