Planar Step/Ethereal Step[edit]
This feature creates the foundation for the flavor of this subclass and I'd like to restrict somehow while keeping its limitless capability so that is isn't blatantly better than Horizon Walker's feature. Red Leg Leo (talk) 12:40, 2 March 2020 (MST)
- Heyo, I think it is fine as it is unless you're seeing something that I'm not. They are both good at different things but the Horizon Walker's feature is much better. I'll break it down below so we're both on the same page:
- Planar Step lets you be basically untouchable for the duration of your turn which is great for getting out of hazards, spells effects and the reach of opponents (unless they are githyanki (I think) or your spell is 0). However, as a sorcerer, it means that if you want to use it you need to take your action first, then planar step away unless you intend to use your action on the ethereal which has some edge uses.
- Ethereal Step lets you cast a 7th level spell, as a bonus action and puts you in another plane of existence for 8 hours or until you want to leave as well as all the other things that the etherealness spell allows like seeing back into the Material Plane which the above feature doesn't grant. The benefit of this spell is the ability to scout, shadow and explore without being limited by your surroundings, seen or affected by enemies and hazards. On a short/long rest recharge too.

- But Ethereal Step doesn't last 8 hours; it too ends at the end of the current turn. :-( Red Leg Leo (talk) 07:20, 4 March 2020 (MST)
- I have no idea how I missed that and thus my previous statements first sentence is the only thing that holds true. Hmmm where to go from here. —ConcealedLight (talk) 18:25, 4 March 2020 (MST)
- I put in two suggestions. lmk what you think. —ConcealedLight (talk) 18:42, 4 March 2020 (MST)
- Hola! So I like the commented-out version more, since obviously it accomplishes the same goal. I appreciate the aid. Red Leg Leo (talk) 09:02, 9 March 2020 (MDT)
- I've been listening to a Ravnica podcast lately so happy to help. Jace Beleren Must Die, if you're interested. —ConcealedLight (talk) 05:48, 10 March 2020 (MDT)
- Ravnica lore is amazing and I'd love to know more about it. If that is the name of the podcast, I'll see if I can get into it. Red Leg Leo (talk) 08:51, 10 March 2020 (MDT)
