Talk:Pillar of Flame (5e Spell)

To account for the template, this spell now deals 7d12 (average 45.5) instead of 8d12 (52). The suggested value for a spell of this type, according to Spell Design (5e Guideline)#Damage, is 42. Consider the fact covers an exceptionally small range for a 7th-level AoE spell, to the point it almost seems like it should be halfway to single-target damage (60.5). Plus it's exclusive to the blast casters, sorcerer and wizard. In light of those factors, I think the +3.5 damage is more than warranted. I believe 8d12 even would have been fine enough. - Guy (talk) 06:31, 28 July 2018 (MDT)
