Talk:Path of the Reckless Warrior (5e Subclass)
From D&D Wiki
I've changed all the concept of this class. I did this because, in my opinion, the features originally built in this archetype didn't have any cohesive theme. The original intent seems to be a combatant who hits hard an lift heavy, but this idea of a pure destructive force already exists both in the Brute archetype and in the Champion archetype of fighter, and also don't seem to have anything to do with the name of the subclass.
So, i come up with some mechanics to try to build a cohesive theme with this archetype feature. It has "Reckless" in the name, so, my idea was to create an archetype of fighter who doesn't have concerns for his safety, a irresponsible warrior. Think in that typical bad guy who, when stabbed by the hero, he pierces his blade further into his gut, just to attack the hero; or the warrior on the battlefield that, when faced with a rain of arrows, he just open his arms to be pierced by it.
The core ability is the Mighty Blow (i keep the name), giving the ability to give extra damage when reckless attacking. The 14th level feature is a improvement of this one.
The second is where the archetype really comes online, giving basically a lucky die to the barbarian, and immunity to the frightened condition. This is my way to emulate someone taking a great risk to accomplish something, like every "roguish hero" from movies.
The third feature is basically the taunt effect from the battlemaster maneuvers, with a little change to fit the theme and the name of the feature. Anastacio (talk)
