Talk:Orc, 2nd Variant (4e Race)

1. savage heart is equivalent to a daily racial power (maybe slightly below)- Based on what? Devas have a racial bonus to defenses against all bloodied creatures, I don't see why having one while you are bloodied is so much more powerful.

2.Warrior's surge is the same as a feat changing to a +2 or 3 as a racial is acceptable- There's no precedent that racial bonuses have to be less than feats? In fact, they tend to be a bit more powerful.

3. Warrior's surge utility power is INSANELY powerful, 1 change to daily, 2 make it a minor action OR attack of its own, 3 add some sort of requirement, for comparison the warden has a level 2 utility where it has to KILL and enemy to get the same effect- By comparison, a Dwarf can spend their second wind as a minor action and it isn't depend on hitting at all. A cleric or warlord can heal an ally or themselves etc. Not all classes or races are built the same. It doesn't seem too overpowered and you have to hit with an attack. There's already the requirement of having to hit with an attack and declaring the use of the power before hand. So, if you miss, you can't spend the healing surge. You also consume your second wind, which means that you couldn't use the ability twice per encounter if an ability allowed you to regain encounters and you also can't use your second wind, a second time.

Removed "Need Balance"[edit]

Because the powers have changed fundamentally I've removed the "needs balance" title. However, the way it's constructed now may be imbalanced and thus this is only for it's previous form, and not it's current one. JohnSmith82 (talk) 19:29, 3 April 2017 (UTC)

Current Version[edit]

While there are some aspects of the race that I am tentative about, I think the balance is acceptable for the current iteration. However I may come back with suggestion to edit the trait that grants an extra encounter/ utility power, and the racial power. Both of these irk me but I want to make sure that they are actually imbalanced rather than just a personal bias. --Aitharious (talk) 15:53, 4 April 2017 (UTC)
