• This spell's history used to be 1d10 damage, but was nerfed I suppose because it was basically a more powerful fire bolt.
• However, 1d8 damage feels too low considering how rare monsters actually have thp.

I propose this spell deal 2d4 damage (on average more than 1d8 but less than 1d10) as a baseline, with an extra 2d4 at the usual intervals. This merges conveniently with the 1d4 extra damage, and gives it a more unique identity and purpose among the myriad of other damage cantrips that deal d10 damage or especially d8 damage. - Guy 12:41, 22 May 2022 (MDT)
