Page Overhaul[edit]

Sup dude. I'm going ahead making an overhaul of your Monk, Variant, instead of creating a page just to do that, instead of asking and waiting an answer. But, if you have any problems with my changes, i'm more than help to bring the page back to what you have previously made. Anastacio (talk) 13:58, 7 June 2021 (MDT)

Your changes are in line with the idea of improving/iterating upon this page so don't worry. In addition to that, the old version of this class was underpowered and frankly wasn't interesting and didn't address any of the problems some people have with monks. I don't believe this variant class is finished, but it does so much already that I can't wait to see this class's future.--Blobby383b (talk) 16:22, 7 June 2021 (MDT)
That's very nice to hear! I have complaining about the monk without doing nothing for far too long, hehe. And you are right, isn't finished yet, and probably will require some rebalancing along the way, but it is nice to have some feedback on it already! Anastacio (talk) 18:43, 7 June 2021 (MDT)

Only problem I really found is the fact that you made Mercy monk's 11th level feature worse, that's the only thing I'd change about the class. But as for the class as a whole, I'm suprised you keeped Ki more or less the same, cause one of the biggest problems was monk at early levels never having enough. What I recommend is having either your ki total equal your level+Prof(or level+prof+Con/Wis) or just straight up double the key point max from 2,4,6,8 all the way to 40 at lvl 20. Now even if your dm is stingy with his short rests you won't become a liability. Xalvan

Sup dude, glad you've stopped by and took a look! The main reason why i kept the ki the same is because my goal with this variant was making it less reliant on ki to be useful. I didn't wanted ki to be used for mundane stuff, like punching really fast or being able to disengage. For example, flurry of blows no longer require ki, and you can basically disengage for free at 2nd level. So, the features that used to drain monk's ki are now not expensive, and you can use your ki for the techniques, that are more on the level of spells. Now, i agree that making Ki being recovered on a long rest and increasing the amount of ki to match is a good option, i can introduce it as a variant option for the class.
About the mercy monk, i kinda had to reduce its power. Since Mercy monks are currently the best official monk sub, and this variant already buffs the official, a was afraid that this would make him OP. Specially since Mercy Monks are basically the only monk option that can keep up with other martials. But i'll take a second look and do some math to see if i made some mistake.
Again, thanks for the feedback, and if you ever get to test it, please let me know!. Anastacio (talk) 17:53, 14 December 2021 (MST)
