Talk:Medium (3.5e Class)
From D&D Wiki
Comments[edit]
Very cool class! Looks flavorful and pretty balanced as long as you face many foes of great evil and vileness untold. The biggest suggestion I'd make is pushing the constant Speak with Dead ability to level 3 so people won't take a 1-2 level dip in the class only for that ability, and someone who's just beginning as a medium might not have the ability to speak with the dead just yet. On the other hand, might wanna push their Bolt to 1st level so they have a combat option right off the bat. -- —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 76.169.236.139 (talk • contribs) . - The one level dip is a small concern that might have to be mitigated via multi-classing restrictions. Normally I would be against something like this, but in this case it might be required. I just discussed with Cid the possibility of requiring a multi-classed medium to always have his medium level be the highest of his base classes, which would allow a medium to multi-class and take prestige classes while still ensuring that being a medium remains an integral part of his character (as the ability to converse freely with the dead should be). As far as your other suggestion, we acknowledge the extra importance of first level, but at the same time neither of us feels like totally remodeling the class to accommodate a first level bolt of sorrow/delayed dead are not silent considering how much we worked to avoid dead levels while maintaining a set of clean, scaling abilities. The compromise was to add medium armor proficiencies to add staying power until second level, where bolt of sorrow is available and other abilities begin to stockpile. We appreciate the feedback, and hopefully the finished product will turn out to your liking. -- Jota 10:25, 25 June 2009 (MDT)
- On further reflection, neither of us could see the medium armor as fitting with the rest of the class, so it has been replaced by the Sixth Sense ability, granted at first level. -- Jota 12:37, 25 June 2009 (MDT)
Cool[edit]
I like it so far, kinda remind me of my weeper. Anyway I be watching this. --Lord Dhazriel 13:42, 25 June 2009 (MDT)
Revamping[edit]
In light of some recent feedback, we have decided to rework the medium to decrease the likelyhood of abusive multiclassing dips and to increase the power at level 1. - TG Cid 22:03, 29 June 2009 (MDT)
- You may find this update makes the medium a little more powerful, but all of his abilities are still well within his niche and he shouldn't threaten to break your game. I hope we aren't dipping in to Tome levels of power with the bolt of sorrow, but we'll leave you to be the judge of that. -- Jota 22:32, 29 June 2009 (MDT)
Action Clarification[edit]
Some of the abilities need to have their actions clarified; namely, Bolt of Sorrow, Bequeath the Sight, Revenge of the Fallen, and Emptiness of Death. The attack abilities especially need to be clarified. Are they full-round actions? Standard actions? Attack actions (and therefore full attackable)? --Daniel Draco 01:15, 12 July 2009 (MDT)
- So I was never very good with these kind of things, but I hope that changes I just made clarify things. The feedback is appreciated. -- Jota 01:33, 12 July 2009 (MDT)
