Talk:Master of the Spoken Word (3.5e Prestige Class)

Prerequisites[edit]
... innuendo is no longer a separate skill in v3.5 (it is part of bluff). —EldritchNumen 17:48, 27 February 2007 (MST)
- Got rid of it, does it look better now? --Green Dragon 18:48, 27 February 2007 (MST)
- I also went back and added some links where it would probably be helpful, and appended a section I had neglected the fist time around (I seem to find those a lot). Thanks for the heads up about the Innuendo skill; I hadn't noticed when I got my 3.5 books that it was gone. --Rakankou 18:58, 27 February 2007 (MST)
- Thanks for adding the links. Also, I went over and formatted it correctly. Hope you don't mind. --Green Dragon 22:29, 27 February 2007 (MST)
- To tell the truth I really like this class, with a few specialized abilities (which are pretty cool) it is able to still retain the ability to continually supply caster levels. The only two questions I have are, 1. Does getting rid of the old familiar (because of the new familiar gained) cause XP reduction? and 2. What does a parrot familiar do? --Colona 10:32, 21 April 2008 (PST)
- My understanding is that since the familiar has neither died, nor been "dismissed by the caster," the replacment of the caster's old familiar does not force the save or possible XP loss. Regarding the parrot familiar, mechanically, it would work the same as the Raven familiar; when I designed this class, I took some ideas from the BoVD. One of the prestige classes forces the character to take an Imp familiar (except, in that case, the Imp eats the old familiar). Since the Master of the Spoken Word is not inherently evil, I decided to give the player a choice between the arguably spooky Raven familair and a more cheery Parrot. --Rakankou 12:26, 22 April 2008 (MDT)
- Thanks! This class seems pretty playable, and I think I might if my DM allows, It'd be fun to play a spell caster who didn't just get a familiar then kinda have a little animal following him around. --Colona 12:18 22 April 2008 (PST)
- This might be interesting if you adapted it to be compatible with the Truenamer class from Tome of Magic-Risek 22:25, 12 June 2008 (MDT)
- I first drafted this class well before Tome of Magic came out, but I agree that it would make for a rather logical extension of that sort. --Rakankou 22:28, 12 June 2008 (MDT)
