Talk:Lore Savant (5e Subclass)
From D&D Wiki
Nerfed Creative Mind. Looking back at it, there's no way to justify circumventing the main weakness of the class by giving additional spells for free to the Sorcerer. Instead, I simplified it to simply being able to learn spells from the Wizard class list, rather than getting up to 20 additional spells from it. This is probably the only nerf the subclass should need. --Supersmily5 (talk) 12:45, 17 July 2019 (MDT)
Raised the power of Deepened Spell by allowing spells that could affect others but aren't be used for it. Originally, I thought this would be good enough to warrant the nerf, since not requiring concentration on a concentration spell is basically golden. However, looking into it, I don't actually see many uses for this, since every spell that it could be used for comboing with it either can affect other creatures or isn't able to be used in such a combo anyway (My initial thought was Jump + Expeditious Retreat, until I learned that for some unknown reason Jump isn't a concentration spell even though there's no reason for it not to be.). May be questionable or I may be wrong, but the spell level dependent price should keep it from being too powerful. --Supersmily5 (talk) 18:18, 2 August 2019 (MDT)
Further research has shown some level of use, such as Alter Self + stuff. Still looking into how much can be done, and may undo the buff if it turns out to be extensive. --Supersmily5 (talk) 18:29, 2 August 2019 (MDT)
Well that didn't take long. Invisibility would be added to the list if that were the case, which would immediately negate the usefulness of Greater Invisibility... It's something I would otherwise think should stick, but I can't keep such a buff in good conscious. You may change this in a personal game if you so choose, but the buff is dead. --Supersmily5 (talk) 18:33, 2 August 2019 (MDT)
