Talk:Iaijutsu Master, Variant (5e Feat)

Reworked this feat as the initial one broke the bounded accuracy of 5e, classes that could make use of it were limited, and the damage potential could easily grow out of hand.

This version of the feat addresses several problems and creates a unique style of character by:

  • Adding in some additional flavor text for the player and DM to work with.
  • Avoiding the bounded accuracy of 5e by granting advantage instead of a flat, considerably high, bonus to attack rolls.
  • Reducing the damage potential changes from upwards of +4-18 to a range of +2-8 depending on level, Init bonus, and the Alert feat.
  • Split the bonus to attack and damage, so the user must choose one of the two per attack.
  • Allowing bonus-action heavy classes to take advantage of the feat by removing the use of a bonus action for re-sheathing the weapon.
  • Instead granting an additional way to use a reaction similar to the Polearm Master feat, though with additional limitations.
