Talk:Hawk's Ronin (5e Class)
From D&D Wiki
Hi, i'm GreedyHawk. I created this class to play a oriental campaign of a friend. I use some aspects of the Rogue/Ranger classes in the "Way of the Moon", and you want a full Fighter, just choose the "Way of the Sun". This is a... Strong class, but is balanced.
I hope you enjoy playing with my classes, and if you like or dislike something, please let me know.

Changes[edit]
- Reducing hit die to a d8
This is a damage dealer in the same vein as rogue, so it makes sense to be a bit more fragile, instead of what happens with more tanky martials, such as fighter, paladin or ranger.
- Reducing skills options to three
This class already give proficiency with martial weapons and medium armors, so is a fair trade that this class give less skills than the rogue, a class that has proficiency in four skills and can only use light armor and a small selection of weapons.
- Removing Expertise
This class has already enough powerful features at 1st level, Expertise is overdoing it.
- Replacing Extra Attack with Fast Attack
My reasoning for replacing this feature is that combining extra attack with a "sneak attack" style variant would make this class deal twice the damage of any official d&d class. By turning them into "Fast Attacks", this class is now able to choose between dealing a lot of damage in a single attack OR making various attacks against the same target, thus balancing the damage output while giving more choices in how to tackle a combat.
- Moving Realization to 11th Level
Realization give too many features for a 10th level feature. Since the current 11th level feature fast attack doesn't really increase the power of the character (only versatility), Realization made for a good Tier level feature.
- Moving Fighting Style (3) from 6th to 10th level, removing the + from two-weapon fighting.
The 6th level is already filled by the Subclass feature. The superior bonus for two-weapon fighting would basically make that the only worthy choice for a feat. What i would make is change the fighting style granted at 10th level for a "superior fighting style", like a new benefit for choosing the same fighting style twice.
- Removing additional uses of Second Wave and Limit Break
Levels for the additional uses already granted features.
- Changed Way of the Sword 1st benefit
Doubling the proficiency bonus for a class that relies in single powerful strikes is extremely op. To keep in line with the theme, i changed it for a less powerful "Precision" feature, that now allows the ronin to reroll an attack using its bonus action. Anastacio (talk) 17:49, 20 October 2022 (MDT)
