Secret Goggle Talk[edit]

Okay, so, some leather straps with brass fittings and buckles doesn't seem all that handy, well, it is. Goggles can be used for swimming (creating a seal around the eyes to prevent water getting in them), or as socketed mounts for various magical lenses to free up the hands. The quality craftsmanship of the goggles allows easy removal and installation of lenses (a standard action). Plain ol' tinted lenses can be added for when traveling in extremely bright places, like deserts and snow fields, reducing glare and eyestrain.

Additional mundane lenses can be purchased for the goggles at 20 gp each. A magnifying glass lens could also be fit into the sockets.

In reality, the goggles, they do nothing. --Ganteka 22:17, 31 March 2009 (MDT)

First off, don't look at the sun with you're wearing goggles with magniffying lenses in them. Bad idea. Second, I have to comment on the tinted lenses: Their nice for low levels of light, glare, and eyestrain, but the real option you want to have in deserts and snow fields is slitted disks to insert where the lenses go, creating vertical lines of vision. While restricting sight by, say, -3 or 4 to spot checks, it block out more of the harmful light and prevents snow/sand blindness. Additionally, it might protect eyes from attack. -Valentine the Rogue 01:42, 1 April 2009 (MDT)
The tinted lenses also seem like they would be useful to Drow and other creatures who suffer from light sensitivity. --  Tug   talk    contribs    email   19:21, 8 April 2009 (MDT)
You could even enchant them, such as goggles giving you a gaze attack, night-vision goggles, infra-red, deathwatch... PokeDM 14:54, 31 May 2010 (UTC)
