Difference from Wizard 10/Loremaster 10[edit]
How is this any/very different from Wizard 10 / Loremaster 10 apart from needing another ability score high? --Ghostwheel 23:35, 13 July 2009 (MDT)
- The Use Magic Device skill allows the gnome to use divine or arcane magic items, so if a normal wizard 20 has 50% chances to use magic items found in a dungeon, this gnome has at least 75% chances to use magic items found in a dungeon (UMD bonuses + weapon proficiencies + skills). --Angel Black 21:19, 23 March 2010 (UTC)
UMD is cross class for wizards anyway, so getting 5 ranks in it only requires being level 7. Making it a class skill in this case only means that you need less skill points. Further, If a skill is a class skill for any of a multiclass character’s classes, then character level determines a skill’s maximum rank, so only one level of bard is needed to make the max rank level+3, the second level of bard is thus even less useful. --Kyrion 10:08, 11 June 2010 (BST)
- Finally, I remember why I did that! to gain +1 on Will and Reflex saves, it gets a few things more, like Speak Language, that it's useful to scroll hunters, but the idea was to make something that work like a Cleric/Wizard but arcane based, so I gave more value to saving throws, because this guy works better moving around the field, risking his life with saving throws as good as a Bard, but, yeah, most people would prefer that extra wizard level, so I would make an alternative progression that deals more damage but that's more vulnerable --Angel Black 10:43, 1 May 2011 (MDT)
