Talk:Fractured (5e Race)
From D&D Wiki
The fluff on this is overall really sparse. I came to a blank when thinking of their summary. How do they come about? There are too many homebrew pages that just say "they have no origin." How about a theory of their becoming? See something like the Wight (5e Race). As for balance, force damage is resisted/immune by only one monster really (helmed horror) and truesight is a high level feature even for classes. It's also not well detailed how it works in their lore. Overall it needs a nerf and more flavor to avoid being just "the base race but better." --Yanied (talk) 10:13, 16 February 2021 (MST)
The race has been pared down since my last visit and it seems quite nice. Force resistance I am still iffy on, but I suppose it won't matter unless the few monsters that deal force damage are multiplied in a game. I like the "reset on initiative" recharge for the glitch trait. Reminds me of 4e encounter powers.--Yanied (talk) 16:37, 30 March 2021 (MDT)
- All right, thanks for letting me know! I'm sorry I didn't respond sooner. This was one of my first creations, and I was definitely not good at balance back then. I'm planning to add some more lore to this race soon- maybe something about a person being pushed in from one multiverse to another. As for the force damage, I thought it was balanced at the time because very few creatures deal force damage, and there are only a couple spells that do so as well (the only ones that I can recall off of the top of my head are Eldritch Blast and Magic Missile, but there are almost certainly a lot more). I was thinking maybe replacing it with psychic damage- do you think that would work? Thanks for following up! --MarshDASavage (talk) 17:19, 30 March 2021 (MDT)
