Talk:Feat Master (5e Class)
From D&D Wiki
If you feel as though anything could be done better please post your suggestion, it would be greatly appreciated to get feedback for this class.
Starting Proficiencies[edit]
I feel as though the class should at least start with a few proficiencies, such as "Two simple weapons of your choice", "One saving throw of your choice", "One type of armor of your choice or shields", stuff like that. Otherwise, the player has to use their ASIs to pick feats that give them the basic proficiencies they need to survive. At the very least give them a dagger proficiency! --IntellectMaster (talk) 09:01, 30 August 2020 (MDT)
Starting Proficiencies[edit]
I intended it to be that way. This was made with the idea of a nobody being lost in a dungeon and having to make do with what they can find/learn. This class is meant to be pretty weak, where the feats you choose are a matter of life and death. It's meant to be that at level 1 you can only do one thing, and as you level up you gain more versatility.
But I suppose it would be interesting to try and work this class into being playable. So I'm thinking allowing two feats at first level just to get the ball rolling. --DreadClaw (talk) 09:55, 21 September 2020 (MDT)
Quick Question[edit]
While simple, I can't tell whether the extra feat(s) feature at level 1 gives one or two feats/ASIs along with the ASI accompanying it. The table says feat, but the feature itself says feats. It says two extra feats in the feature, but that doesn't specify before or after the ASI is accounted for. I might be dumb, but as a DM who has a player wanting to use this, I can't tell.
As for balance, I think it should be good; Maybe extra feats every 5 levels or something might help it but besides that, I can never tell what is or isn't balanced until I see it in game. --DrGuest (talk) 16:00, 18 August 2021 (MDT)
Thanks for the Question[edit]
I understand that this is incredibly late, but thanks for asking. I didn't realize the wording was so confusing, I meant for it to be that you get two feats at level 1 (the standard and the extra)
I've also incorporated your idea of additional feats down the line so you get an additional feat on top of the regular one every time your proficiency bonus increases. Also you don't have to follow this to a T, it was just a random idea I had, it's your game and you are the ultimate arbitrator when it comes to these things. --DreadClaw (talk) 14:56, 29 December 2021 (MST)
Different quick question[edit]
Is it intended to be able to choose ANY feat for the special feats, or just allowed ones? Like racial prerequisites and stuff, it's quite limiting for ideas I had so I thought I'd ask. Ideas of taking things like the Dragonborn's Dragon Hide feat and such, do you intend to limit or remove that? --Camberp01 (talk)
