In its most recently edited form, the farmer's scythe is more powerful than any simple weapon in the SRD by a wide margin. No simple weapon deals more than 1d6 (average 3.5) in a single hand, but this deals 2d4 (average 5). Even single-handed martial weapons can at most do 1d8 (average 4.5). On top of this abnormally high damage, this weapon has reach (which is abnormally powerful for either a simple weapon or a single-handed weapon, let alone both), and it can deal one of two different damage types (which no weapon in the SRD—even martial—can do).
It's clear that blobby's version of this weapon was the most balanced, especially considering the description implies this to be a humble weapon. - Guy (talk) 08:43, 13 May 2018 (MDT)
