Talk:Enfield, Variant (5e Race)
From D&D Wiki
There are classes and races that are variants of originals that are almost the exact same, just like this variant of Enfield. I attempted to add my subrace to the original Enfield, but it was shortly edited out. So to be forthcoming with my subrace I created this enfield variant to include the subrace. Minor adjustments including a couple different features, different sizes, non-humanoid, stat changes, and picture were added to this variant. If I need to rename or make changes or completely rewrite parts, I can do such. However, as stated at the beginning, there are many variants on races and classes that exist that are near identical. I do not believe that the content was redundant, content is not the exact same, the subrace is not questionable, or that the other minor edits are poor.
- Consider reading the 5e Race Design Guide to broaden your understanding of race design and why your assumptions are incorrect. Also, try to provide something more concrete than your opinion as it generally makes it easier for an actual discussion to take place. —ConcealedLight (talk) 09:18, 22 June 2019 (MDT)
Adjustments in accordance to recent mark.[edit]
I have have made adjustments to the race based on recent opinions. Please let me know if it needs more adjusting.
- Comparatively this is still better than the aarakocra so yes it'll need more adjustments. I can recommend 5e_Race_Design_Guide#Flying_Races. —ConcealedLight (talk) 04:36, 23 June 2019 (MDT)
- I added an armor restriction to flight, as well as labored flight during combat. Thanks for helping, btw. Should I edit anything else? Foxezpawz (talk) 20:45, 23 June 2019 (MDT)
- Ahh, yeah that'll make things a bit easier on the balancing. The flight and labored flight traits clash as you should only have one or the other. You should also remove any instance of "in combat" from the page as this doesn't have any mechanical bearing. Flight speed should be either 30 or 50 as per the flying races guide so make it 30 at base and then the subrace ups it to 50. There are some wording issue still like that can be solved by reading the 5e Race Design Guide's Do's and Don'ts section. Other than that I'll give it a review when I have some more time. —ConcealedLight (talk) 04:17, 24 June 2019 (MDT)
Suggestion For Field Subrace[edit]
I thought 50 fly speed for the field subrace was fine, due to a previous comment. What would you suggest as a change? I'd like it to keep the idea of having 'eagle wings' behind it. Each subrace has a 'wing' trait and a 'coat' trait.
- I made my suggested change, but if you want to do that for the theme I'm not sure. —ConcealedLight (talk) 11:48, 28 June 2019 (MDT)
