Why does elemental infusion grant resistance to your elemental damage and so does elemental resistance the level 2 ability?

I'm wondering if this should really be four subclasses:

1. Pyromancer - You aim to master the Fire proprieties of magic and your elemental damage is Fire
2. Hydromancer - You aim to master the Cold proprieties of magic and your elemental damage is Cold
3. Geomancer - You aim to master the Natural proprieties of magic and your elemental damage is Acid
4. Aeromancer - You aim to master the Lightning proprieties of Magic and your elemental damage is Lightning
