Talk:Drop Bear Darkbow (5e Equipment)

Does this need to be Rare? So far as I can tell, the main benefit is the damage die increase, and the damage type change could be either beneficial or detrimental depending on the situation. The unlimited ammo is a bonus, but in my experience most folks don't tend to count ammunition anyway. --Nuke The Earth (talk) 19:47, 27 November 2022 (MST)

Bro its not that deep just make it a +1/+2 weapon if that makes you feel better --Zzineohp (talk) 08:13, 28 November 2022 (MST)
I ask because I am not certain of my stance and would like to begin a discussion involving multiple users. If you do not disagree with me, then I'll change it to Uncommon. --Nuke The Earth (talk) 17:30, 29 November 2022 (MST)
I agree that it doesn't feel Rare, but I don't think reducing rarity is the answer. Right now this just feels like a "Darkbow", nothing particularly "Drop Bear"-ey about it, and there are already at least 3 "you don't need ammo and the damage type changes" ranged weapons on this site alone. Maybe bonus damage from a height advantage or a small Sneak Attack-like poison damage bonus?--Ref3rence (talk) 18:52, 29 November 2022 (MST)
Bonus damage from a height advantage would be interesting. Maybe 3d6, since a Flame Tongue is also rare but isn't conditional? Should that be in addition to, or instead of the d10 damage die? --Nuke The Earth (talk) 13:15, 30 November 2022 (MST)
I think 3d6 would be too much, and I kind of want to avoid making the Darkbow too powerful to discourage the drop bear carpenter from staying in the treetops and spamming darkbow attacks 170.185.86.116 12:11, 12 December 2022 (MST)
Is this item intended to be used specifically by a certain creature, or is it intended to be used by a player character? Generally the assumption is that equipment should be balanced for player character use. --Nuke The Earth (talk) 15:56, 12 December 2022 (MST)
