Talk:Dragoon, 3rd Variant (3.5e Class)

any chance of deleteing this page alltogether? it interupts the search feature to link redirect to one of the dragoon classes on the wiki, making it take much longer to get to mine. i changed this page to link to mine as well, but i think this page should be removed to allow search to work normally, as i think there are several other pages with dragoon in the name people might be searching for (i think ive seen an ashworm dragoon optimized build and a prc dragoon). this page makes it impossible to search and find such pages (and to find my class until i changed it. disregard this, preceeding comment was made when this page was a redirect to someones class on a different pagen Zau 16:42, 25 March 2011 (MDT)

Dragoon Rating[edit]

Rating[edit]

Balance - 4/5 I give this class a 4 out of 5 because it has a problem in later levels due to a lack of fighter feats.

Wording - 3/5 I give this class a 3 out of 5 because some of the abilities (Jump and it's Area Jump modifier) were a bit vague on how to implement.

Formatting - 4/5 I give this class a 4 out of 5 because it follows normal formatting conventions but the wording is a bit vague in places, as previously mentioned.

Flavor - 5/5 I give this class a 5 out of 5 because it is the best implementation of the Final Fantasy IV Dragoon I have seen in my travels.

Rating[edit]

Power - 5/5 I give this class a 5 out of 5 because it is very balanced, a nice way to play a different kind of combat oriented character. Finally a dragoon that focuses on the jump ability and on spear like weapons.

Wording - 5/5 I give this class a 5 out of 5 because it has good foundations to the abilites of the class.

Formatting - 5/5 I give this class a 5 out of 5 because it follows the rules required to write a class, it's quite understandable.

Flavor - 4/5 I give this class a 4 out of 5 because it's a fresh new way to play with a combat oriented character; no more depending on feats to try to be a little different.

Improvements[edit]

I like how this class looks. Unlike all the other FF dragoons, this isnt frontloaded with overpowered abilities. In fact, it looks like it could use a couple improvements. maybe give it a bonus to jump checks, spread out over the levels, for example, a +1 at every odd level, and at some 5+ level can jump w/o a running start. The jump attack looks like a reasonable amount of damage, though maybe it should integrate Jump in some way, such as "roll a jump check, the deal 1d6 per 2 on the check," with a cap equal to what it is at now. Looks great! Zau 15:25, 3 November 2011 (MDT)

After some extensive play-testing I have decided that this class is a little on the weak side as fighter type characters go. The Jump attack is fun (referencing the previous user, Zau's comment, the attack roll seems to suffice) but after your daily uses are up you become a half power fighter who is a little lighter on their feet. Speaking of, all of the various defensive hindrance removals could easily be combined into a single multi-tiered ability to help clean up clutter. To help enhance your non-jump related maneuvers I recommend an increase in number of feats, say, every 3 levels instead of 4. Still less than a fighter-proper but enough to compensate.
