Can i ask who made this race? i need permission to add some things if he or she dose not mind. Azernath (talk) 15:41, 30 November 2014 (MST)

It was User:169.205.89.158, you can see that from the revision history. --OwenLeaf (talk) 14:54, 2 December 2014 (MST)
Go for it, that's the point of a wiki :) Marasmusine (talk) 03:00, 3 December 2014 (MST)

I feel a little embarrassed by the fact that i read all the books about this race. the book is called Vampire Academy, DON'T READ IT. Azernath (talk) 15:49, 3 December 2014 (MST)

uhm just as a note the vampiric gaze, wouldn't it need to make them willing to let you bight them because a standard charm person spell is not going to do that. would you let even a good friend bite you in the neck?--Lord Survival (talk) 09:19, 27 March 2019 (MDT)

Depends what kind of friend and what kind of bite 0w0. Jokes aside I recall the vampire stat block has something in it that about their vampiric gaze making them willing targets of the bite, however, the bite only requires a creature to be charmed and doesn't specify the nature of that charm. —ConcealedLightChatmod.png (talk) 11:17, 27 March 2019 (MDT)

i recall that in the bite, but it also says that in the vampire stat block which along with the effects of the charm person spell makes me think it is something unique to their gaze, considering you are only considered a friendly acquaintance as per the spell. the vampire stat block specifies that the charmed person, and its charm not the charm person spell like ability, are will victums of the vampires bite attack.--38.67.7.2 14:00, 27 March 2019 (MDT)

Vampires hate fire[edit]

This race has a lot of boons so if no one minds im going to give it something it probably should have had.

- Lord of Pringles. 9:57. 8 August, 2015.

The reason I did not but anything because no race ever gotten any kind of disadvantages. So I was thinking about adding Sun Sensibility, but it is too easy. So I will add Vampire Weaknesses to the Dhampir which will make it interesting. Azernath (talk) 11:56, 8 August 2015 (MDT)

Sorry but i couldn't help but ask if you were serious about the "Vampire Weakness" option? Because thats not a weakness at all, most people if you shove a stake in their hearts.... well they don't just got to sleep. [Kildar]

+4 total to ability scores?
Blood drain needs tweaking, it looks abusable, I will try something. Marasmusine (talk) 13:15, 8 August 2015 (MDT)

Like Marasmusine said above, the Vampire Weakness is pretty much weakness for all living creatures. Maybe you can try something else, say, a strong stench (e.g. you have disadvantage on Costitution saving throws against stenches like stinking cloud spell).

I also suggest you to divide some traits into sub-race. All in one would be a bit too overpowered. --WeirdoWhoever (talk) 22:03, 9 February 2017 (MST)

Question on Dhampir Magic. How would you handle the casting when the character has been up for multiple days with no long rest or only a short rest in-between two days.

Would still work I think. Given that it recharges after a short or long rest.

Improved bite;[edit]

What about adding a racial feat that let the bite do more? Also change the bite basic damage from 1d6 necrotic to 1 piercing plus 1d6 necrotic.

For example:

Deep Drinker Prerequisite: Dhampir

You have improved your ability to drink the blood and life from others. You gain the following benefits:

Your Lifedrinker attack may deals piercing damage equal to 1d6 + your Strength/Dexterity modifier, plus 2d6 necrotic damage, and the target's hit point maximum is reduced by an amount equal to the necrotic damage taken. The reduction lasts until the target finishes a long rest. The target dies if this effect reduces its hit point maximum to 0. When you deal necrotic damage with your Lifedrinker attack, you can choose to regain hit points equal to the necrotic damage dealt instead of gaining temporary hit points. Once you gain hit points this way you cannot do it again until you finish a short or long rest.
