Talk:Crystal Golem (5e Creature)

Why does the golem have Innate Spellcasting? I thought only living creatures can have spellcasting or such? Unless you are basing this golem on a version that has innate spellcasting, yet again the Arcane Golem has something similar to spellcasting. --Azernath (talk) 22:54, 4 October 2016 (MDT)

Plenty of fiends and celestials have innate spellcasting, and they aren't technically alive. It was inspired by something I heard about 3.5e: that there were some psionic crystals that let you do cool magic stuff, and I got to thinking "what if that crystal were alive and using itself?" The rest just came to me. SirSprinkles (talk) 23:15, 4 October 2016 (MDT)
Sorry, what I mean by alive is that a creature must be sentient to use magic, and golems by definition non-sentient unless mentioned otherwise; however, I do think that a creature with the shape of a crystal that has psionic powers and floats in the air is a great concept, but it is not likely a golem since it is most likely a sentient by itself not created. Can you tell which name is the original creature is? Perhaps we can rename something similar and add few things together that would grant it extra spice into it because it is constructed in a good manner, but nothing special beside the innate spellcasting. --Azernath (talk) 12:33, 5 October 2016 (MDT)
I think those crystals were items that you used, and they either had a set number of charges or you used them once or twice and they were done. I have never picked up a 3.5e book in my life, I always found it too confusing. I prefer Pathfinder, but even then, I've never actually played it. SirSprinkles (talk) 16:21, 5 October 2016 (MDT)
