Talk:Contents May Differ (5e Equipment)
From D&D Wiki
This is a really cool thing you made, for iron grip you should specify if damage is for 1 arm or 2. I'm assuming it's for using it with 1 arm, but make sure to include that.
- Needsbalance
The needsbalance message was removed, but many issues still remain:
- No cost because it is "a craftable item for the Gunslinger archetype". I presume it means Gunslinger (5e Archetype). That archetype doesn't mention this gun, or any special rules for crafting. Without anything to say otherwise, this surely would be crafted using the Crafting downtime activity, which needs a cost to determine the material costs and time taken.
- Misfire still not explained.
- Still mentions it being able to be fired one-handed. If you can fire it one-handed or two-handed, make it versatile, not two-handed; that way you're using the existing rules rather than making an exception.
- The blessed/infused etc still isn't adequately explained. Let's look at kinetic slug. "Arcane user" isn't defined in 5e, so let's say you mean someone who chooses their spells from the Wizard or Sorcerer spell list. That character "Expends at least level 1 Force damage spell". Does it mean "a spell of at least 1st level that deals force damage"? How do you "expend" a spell, is it different to casting a spell? Marasmusine (talk) 17:24, 18 May 2017 (UTC)
For gunslinger you mean the artificer archetype right?
Revising
-There is no defined cost due the lack of Gunsmithing rules in the Archetype description, it simply says DM's discretion. And the fact that different campaigns may have differing availability of certain resources. It is best left open ended for the DM to decide when the player should be able to receive the firearm
-Misfire is explained in the Gunslinger Archetype, the item does not need to explain it. --Vorox3 (talk) 19:19, 19 May 2017 (UTC)
- The argument you make for crafting value is the same argument made for magic items in the DMG... but even that gives a suggestion for the range of values for a given rarity.
- If a rule requires referring off-site 3rd-party material, that rule should be a variant so that the item can still be used. Marasmusine (talk) 01:33, 25 September 2017 (MDT)
