Talk:Clairvoyant (5e Class)
From D&D Wiki
There's an awful lot of features for a level 1, which might unbalance and even break the character mechanics.
Might I suggest cutting the limit, or making them have prerequisites based on the eyes? AntiCharlatan (talk) 18:34, 2 June 2017 (UTC)
- I don't know what "Conceal Clairvoyance" does. Why would I disable all my features? If it doesn't require an action or bonus action, how do I activate it?
- There's a theme in the PHB of "parry" type features being a reduction in damage, not an increase an AC. What am I parrying with, by the way? At 13th level I would reasonably have 18 in Dex and Wis, so this is +8 AC against one attack per turn (even spell attacks?)
- Advantage is a circumstantial benefit, it's not supposed to be applied all the time.
- As noted above, this is a helluva lot of features for 1st level.
- Aura sight - what's the arcana check?
- Fighting style - which fighting styles? different classes have different styles.
- Third eye is very similar to the arcane eye spell, except more powerful. why not just let them cast that instead of reinventing the wheel? Although, as a note, you would normally have to be a 7th level full spellcaster to cast this spell.
- Ethereal sight seems a bit unsure of itself?
- A lot of these effects are spells or very close to existing spells (True Sight can be trueseeing for example). I wonder if you should just give the class spellcasting and put those spells in the spell list.
- Don't be so against multiclassing! You might have been born with it, but the powers were latent. Marasmusine (talk) 08:56, 8 June 2017 (UTC)
I did my best to salvage what was there. But someone might want to fix the table. Raptorcorn1 (talk) 00:49, 11 December 2017 (MST)
Rewrite/Rework[edit]
I am going to rework this class. It overlaps between rogue and monk with a sprinkle of spellcaster. I believe there to be enough to make it it's own thing, so far. Anyhow, many features need to be removed to balance this class. BigShotFancyMan (talk) 08:45, 7 May 2018 (MDT)
- My main question, why is this class so martial focused?
- Also Arcane eye is a 4th level spell so normally you get it at level 9 but here at level 5 you can cast it 3 times.

- I don't want to use the original idea as a scapegoat too much but my guess is when I did the re-work, I tried to keep the original things intact. I wouldn't be opposed to less-martial features. The arcane eye could also be an oversight as well. ~ BigShotFancyMan (talk) 10:25, 9 November 2018 (MST)
- Ah that's fair. I've got a whole lot of ideas for this class as I'm planning on making a similar class but they would completely change this class so I'll save them. As for this class;
- Defect missiles is per encounter, should it be once per short rest
- With Omniscient it says "you can use the All Seeing Eye feature at will" is that supposed to mean they can cast clairvoyance at will.
- Improved Elemental Strikes is very underwhelming; adding 1d6 instead of 1d4 to weapon attacks compared to copying spells
- Spell sight is also worse than the other options; an improvement would be to have it recharge after 10 minuites.
