Talk:Centaur, Noble (4e Race)

Errors and Balance[edit]
Several lines are cut of part-way through - "Drunken Fury" and "Double Attack" most obviously. "Vision" also says "sense" which seems out of place. And the racial power is almost unreadable...
Atribute bonuses are always even numbers, and generally shouldn't be higher than 2. Skill bonuses should also generally be +2. No PC race speaks Supernal (that one's reserved for gods and god-like beings!). If the "Double Attack" feature is supposed to work the way I think it is (an additional unarmed basic attack, 1D6 damage) it's way overpowered at low levels and pretty useless at high levels. Best bet would be replacing it with a racial ancounter power that improves at higher tiers.

- I fixed up the balance by rewriting the mechanical aspects of the page, extrapolating from the Centaur entry in the 4th Edition Monster Manual II. I'm not sure about the Quick Kick power in terms of balance, but it appears to remain the same for both the Paragon and Epic tiers creatures given in the MM2, and I think it's probably good-but-not-too-good. I can rewrite the fluff piece too, using material from the same source. -- Indigo 14:24, 17 February 2010 (EAST)
- Have they released a PC version of the Centaur? What's the source for that? Also, I fixed up the flavour and fluff stuff. Should be complete now, I think. -- Indigo 05:19, 17 February 2010 (UTC)
I'd like to point out that the average weight of a horse (in real life) is about 1100 pounds; there is no conceivable way that a centaur could way 350lbs. I understand this was created to keep all PC races at size medium. However, this creature would be more aptly named "ponytaur" than Centaur.
- Like the maintenance template says, it would work as a "Shining Force" style centaur which aren't much larger than a human (maybe double a human's weight, certainly couldn't be ridden) 164.38.32.28 08:20, 8 January 2014 (MST)
Images[edit]
Are the pictures from the Monster Manual fair game, or are they covered by copyright? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 60.240.184.58 (talk • contribs) 15:02, 22 February 2010 (MST). Please sign your posts.
- Pictures would greatly complement this. You should look up the pictures and their licenses, however I imagine they are copyrighted. Although many other pictures abound for centaurs - they are a mythical creature after all. --Green Dragon 06:02, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
- There is a useful image at , although it's small. I can get a larger one by scanning it from the MM2. But how do I determine where the specific copyright information is; I can't find it in there. I notice the Cambion_(4e_Race) page has a monster manual image. -- Indigo 02:49, 25 February 2010.
- If possible, we should use a free image rather than linking to a copywritten image (legally this is a [1] grey area, and we can't claim "fair use" on this). Marasmusine 01:07, 11 March 2012 (MST)
