Talk:Cavalry Saber (3.5e Equipment)
From D&D Wiki
I made it like this because that would be the only way to do what I wanted it to do, which is give a d10 one-handed martial weapon to mounted combatants, to be used in a more stand-up fight instead of charging repeatedly. A saber is certainly not a light weapon, and a light weapon would not be able to have the d10 damage, leaving a lance a better option. The whole point of this weapon is to deal more damage than a lance, but lose the charge bonus. Stealing the lances "two handed, but one on horseback" was the best way to do this (and a lance isn't really ever a two-handed weapon either). Removing note, I did it this way on purpose.
