Talk:Book (5e Equipment)
From D&D Wiki
Hey uh? anyone mind if I take a crack at improving this?[edit]
here are my suggestions, if no one opposes I'll go ahead and apply them in a couple days.
- So as the tag mentions this would literally just be an improvised weapon and should only do 1D4 bludgeoning damage.
- 3lbs is pretty heavy for a book, most textbooks weigh about that much, so either we should lean into that and make it a heavy book that actually contains knowledge or otherwise serves a useful purpose.
- being a book, it could act as an arcane or divine spellcasting focus depending on the contents of its pages and since it's already got a damage associated to it it could serve as a backup weapon for priests or wizards.
any of that sound good?

- I like the idea of a book having the focus property for arcane spells.
- With that, d4 bludgeoning, and no other properties I think this weapon's existence is justified and reasonable. Especially so, considering the book could serve as a wizard's spellbook or some other purpose. - Guy 14:18, 22 March 2024 (MDT)
