Talk:Bone Shield (5e Spell)
From D&D Wiki
Stub[edit]
Can only the bone collector can cast this spell? If so then all other breadcrumbs should be removed from the page. If all classes can cast it, then the associated categories should be added to the page. Coaldstone (talk) 21:32, 7 February 2020 (MST)
The originator of this spell did not add the categories. I merely added Bone Collector. I think I'll add the others now, except ranger which make no sense. Arquebus (talk) 12:50, 11 February 2020 (MST)
Balance[edit]
I think this spell is overpowered for second level, it gives resistances that generally only barbarians in rage have. I think it needs to be a 'concentration' spell. Arquebus (talk) 15:43, 9 March 2020 (MDT)
- Concentration sounds fair to keep the bone shards floating about you. It's not dissimilar to an animated shield. Coaldstone (talk) 20:45, 9 March 2020 (MDT)
- I made changes that should let dungeonmasters make it more balanced but they are all in parentheses(). DtheDnonator (talk) 14:48, 7 April 2020 (MDT)
Misc.[edit]
The spell included a few mismatches/errors, ie. parts of it saying four bones with others saying six, or some parts saying that an attack roll destroys a bone when an attack roll is made where other parts said this only happens when damage is dealt. I tried to correct these errors, remove some major grammatical errors, remove redundant phrases/sentences, etc. I tried not to change anything about the effect - where there were discrepancies in stated effect, I tried to determine which of the stated effects made the most sense (or were stated more often than the competing statements). Hopefully I didn't mess anything up here, but I tried to keep it as close to the form I found it in as possible while also ironing out some confusing bits.
