Talk:Blueveined (5e Race)
From D&D Wiki
This is my first try making anything like this. I'll fix any issues you guys come up with. Thanks!
- I would make the ability bonuses more focused, at the moment it is vague and lacks flavour. Don't use ability penalties. Since they are physically diverse, but have spell-like abilities, leave the physical stats alone but give them a bonus to whichever ability is used for their spell-like powers.
- Healing Touch and Energy Blast should be replaced with spells in a way similar to the tiefling. Say, cure wounds at 1st level and scorching ray at 3rd level.
- Indimidating Advantage should be limited in some way, to a subset of intimidation checks perhaps. Universal advantage on a skill is overpowered for a racial trait.
- I'm not sure what to make of Condensed Energy, the effects are quite powerful, I'm not fond of that kind of thing being "balanced" with a very long recharge. This should be paced and balanced similar to the tinker gnome's feature. Marasmusine (talk) 01:03, 14 October 2014 (MDT)
Thanks, Marasmusine! My original plan was to make two different sub races, one of which would have more physical advantages from the Blue Vein and the other having more mental attributes, but I haven't had time to do that as of yet. I'll work on making your changes, and if you want to help out, feel free to edit the main page. My email address is chick0ns.owen@gmail.com. I think communicating by way of email might be useful if you're going to help out. Just email me at any time and I'll get back to you ASAP. Again, thanks for the editing ideas! - I've made an attempt at balancing, and subraces, per our email conversation. Marasmusine (talk) 13:49, 20 October 2014 (MDT)
