Talk:Blasting Blade (5e Equipment)
From D&D Wiki
It might be easier to phrase the heat capacity as damage:
"This weapon has 100 hit points and is immune to all damage except fire damage. Every time you make an attack, the sword takes 1d20 fire damage, and for every 20% below maximum health this weapon is it deals an additional die of damage. At the end of your turn, if you have not made an attack since the end of your previous turn, the weapon is repaired for 1d20 damage.
When this weapon reaches zero hit points it is not immediately destroyed, and instead explodes at the end of your next turn. Each creature in a 20-foot radius sphere centered on the sword must make a Dexterity saving throw. A target takes 10d6 fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. The fire spreads around corners and ignites flammable objects in the area that aren't being worn or carried."
This is more clear about the exact timing (if it heals every turn, you're going to start fresh every round) and allows for shenanigans like deliberately heating the sword with external fire damage. 66.150.49.11 06:57, 18 April 2023 (MDT)
