Talk:Blade of Darkness (5e Class)
For the Cultist archetype, there isn't any table that shows how many spell slots you get. Should you just assume that it's basic half caster number of spell slots, or was there a different desired amount? --Camberp01 (talk)
- Good call! I'll add later. Use the Eldritch Knight table until then!Anastacio (talk) 22:44, 22 October 2024 (MDT)
Wording on "Hired Killer" Archetype[edit]
For the first feat, Martial Training, there's mention that you don't need to be in dim light or darkness when attacking. My brain tells me that this is for just the "Deathly Shadows" attack, but some clarification would be nice.
- Good call, i forgot to mention that the feature was related to the Deathly Shadows feature! Fixed it. Anastacio (talk) 12:19, 5 March 2025 (UTC)
For "Counter Kill" when an opportunity attack is invoked, does this use a reaction or is it a free action? Additionally, is this like standard Attack of Opportunity where a creature has to leave your reach or is this for any movement?
- It uses a reaction. The difference between this and a regular opportunity attack is that with Counter Kill you can also use your reaction to attack creatures entering your reach (not just leaving it). Anastacio (talk) 12:19, 5 March 2025 (UTC)
For "Cut Vein" it is explained that the bleeding stops when a creature passes a medicine check on the bleeding target. Can the bleeding target make this roll? Additionally is the medicine check rolled against the same CON DC, or is it DM decided? The CON save roll is per every turn, per user's turn, or per target's turn? I really like this feat, but I'd like to say that one could make it more potent. For example, when a 17th level Blade invokes Cut Vein on an opponent, and after the the first round is made, the additional rounds increase the damage die by one per round or something to that nature.
- Yep, the bleeding target (or any creature near him) can make the Medicine check against the feature's save DC (added a clarification). I'm a little hesitant in making this feature stronger than already is because it is already a feature that causes ongoing damage without requiring concentration from the user (which is already a rare thing in 5e). I really like Black Whirlwind as well. It's absolutely great as it is, but would be amazing if this can be invoked multiple times if the user brings down additional enemies' hp to 0.
- Technically there's no limitations to the amount of times you can use black whirlwind on your turn,as long as you keep killing your targets. Anastacio (talk) 12:19, 5 March 2025 (UTC)
Any plans to add a third archetype? Keep up the great work!
