Talk:Armored Arcanist (5e Feat)

There are plenty of feats out there that do little more than add +1AC (medium armor mastery also gets you out of stealth disadvantage, but requires a 16 Dex; TWF also gets you roughly +2 damage; moderately armored potentially gets you more, but but the armor and shield have significant drawbacks). Adding +2 AC (because what spellcaster won't have a 14), and a stat bump, seems excessive.

In particular, this feat massively overpowers Eldritch knights and other armored gish types, making it easy for them to exceed the AC 20 (unenhanced) limit that is otherwise possible only by raising two ability scores to 20.

I would change it to:

When you are not wearing armor, your AC is 10+DEX+your spellcasting ability modifier. When you are wearing light or medium armor with which you are proficient, you can use your spellcasting ability in place of Dexterity for determining your AC. When you are wearing heavy armor, reduce any damage you receive from spells by your spellcasting ability modifier (maximum 3). —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Anony9587 (talkcontribs) .
