Talk:Arcane Archer, Spellcasting Variant (3.5e Prestige Class)
From D&D Wiki
Minimum level[edit]
The minimum level is definitely 6 for this class, not 7- you can use a Duskblade level for the spellcasting, not that you'd want to do that with this variant... Just saying this so people don't edit it. MorkaisChosen 09:18, 24 December 2007 (MST)

I give this prestige class a two since it is the same as the arcane archer except with slightly higher requirements and spells at alternate levels. I would suggest that all special abilities other than "Enhance Arrow" be removed, so that levels switch between an Enhance arrow bonus and a spell casting level. - 123098zxcmnb 18:17, 10 January 2008 (MST)

Power - 3/5 I give this class a 3 out of 5 because lowering the base attack spell casting progression were not balanced. I'd say drop 1 or 2 special abilities, or slow down enhance arrow a bit, and it would be fine. --Ganre 00:31, 4 September 2008 (MDT)
- 3 or 4? -- Jota 14:52, 5 July 2009 (MDT)
- 3, fixed, and because, Enhance arrow is always active, if they are a full spell casting class, then with practiced spell caster they can be just as good withthe various magic weapon spells. If you don't slow down the progression, the only other option i see is lowering the BAB again(which i doubt you'll like) or at least slowing down their spell progression to miss a caster level ever 3 levels or so. --Ganre 21:19, 10 July 2009 (MDT)
- Slowing down enhance arrows is a bad idea. Already, this class is worse at enchanting its weapons for free than base classes are - why make it so what the class is specialized in is overshadowed by what the cleric can do (and to the entire party, no less!) ? If anything, this class is still too cripplingly weak. The special abilities are not useful, and can't be used nearly enough times. Dragon Child 14:56, 5 July 2009 (MDT)
Wording - 4/5 I give this class a 4 out of 5 because there are few grammar(missing colon, to be exact) --Ganre 00:31, 4 September 2008 (MDT)
Formatting - 3/5 I give this class a 3 out of 5 because it isn't ended well, an epic progression in not precisely necessary, and if you are going to put it in, finish it. Also, you need to link this more completely. --Ganre 00:31, 4 September 2008 (MDT)
Flavor - 3/5 I give this class a 3 out of 5 because while it fits well into a setting, you didn't do a whole lot to emphasize its role. Also, the flavor seems like it's just a rehash, something you might want to avoid. --Ganre 00:31, 4 September 2008 (MDT)
Second Variant[edit]
mabye as a secondary variant, trade the enhance arrows for 1/2 spellcasting, and mabye lose the good fort save. the problem with enhance arrows is that you could get a magic bow, completely replacing enhance arrows, so trading it in for a useful feature wouldmake the class much better. the class currently looks somwhat OP because it has full spells and good class features.
