Talk:Animated Statue (5e Race)
From D&D Wiki
Assessing balance using Marasmusine Meter:
- (0.25) Immune to several effects in the game that age a creature
- (2) Large size (see Large Races (DnD Guideline))
- (1) Exceptionally fast base movement
- (0.5) Tremorsense can let you pinpoint creatures through walls and floors, and in quite a large radius. It's like the motion tracker from Aliens.
- (1) Blindsight is very useful, you can see invisible creatures and immune to visual illusions and spells like blur and mirror image.
- (2) Stone armor gives you a starting AC of up to 23. Incredible for a fighting class, stupendous for a wizard.
- (0.5) Construct gives immunity to many spells such as hold person, and you don't need to eat
- (?) Unclear how to evaluate mending as healing, as the spell does not explicitly allow a construct to regain hit points (it just "repairs" them). However, as mending is a cantrip this potentially breaks the hit dice economy.
- (0.5) Exotic language and one extra language. I don't know what an animated statue is doing with Primordial, which is the language spoken by elementals.
Total for the base race is 7.75 (disregarding mending). A race should score between 2.5 and 3. I have not assessed the subraces yet, which will further add to the score. Marasmusine (talk) 04:48, 13 January 2024 (MST)
