Talk:A.I. (5e Race)
From D&D Wiki
The design disclaimer covers the futuristic setting part. But the following balance things bug me:
- Truesight. It's not permanent, but it occurs a lot more than something like once per long rest, which would be more preferable for something usually far down the campaign trail.
- Cold metal heavily restricts this race's choices to that of martial classes, barring monk. Generally, 5e race design should try to be more inclusive and open to all classes.
- Metallic frame gives resistance to slashing, one of the three common weapon damage types (pierce, bludgeon, slash), which should really never be present in a player race due to how common they are, particularly nonmagical at lower levels.
- The artificial assistant has no walking speed and is Tiny, which likely means it uses the Tiny Player Characters (5e Variant Rule), which further gimps that subrace in comparison to the combat subrace. At that point, that subrace should just be a familiar.
I'm not sure if all these were intentional, in which case it is definitely not meant for generic settings and needs a rewrite or removal from the 5e race list, because the design disclaimer doesn't quite cover balance issues.--Yanied (talk) 17:18, 25 March 2021 (MDT)
