Talk:5e Poisons

From D&D Wiki

I did some research for my D&D 5e setting and came up with a variety of poisons that I use there. I'd like to post them here. I have issues with the 5e implementation of poison: If you fail the Con DC (usually pretty low), only one of a few outcomes exist: damage, "poisoned" condition, or "incapacitated" condition. The thing is, poison comes in a lot of varieties and can do a lot of different things. I understand 5e wants to simplify things, but in this case, it is way over-simplified. If a GM, and the players are willing, a few simple, reasonable modifications could enhance the experience, make it more realistic, and do it without bogging down the pace of the game. Before I present my "version," I'd like to know what you experienced and your thoughts. 26-June-2017 - Sligo

You could always create a variant rule and state that your poisons use that rule, though if you plan to create entirely new poisons, it might be best to also create a version that doesn't use the variant rule. SirSprinkles (talk) 14:56, 26 June 2017 (MDT)
I think what I envision is a combination of variant rule and new equipment. Perhaps I can do the work here and create a link in the variant rule section - Sligo
