I feel I've missed something. Why does this exist? —ConcealedLightChatmod.png (talk) 11:46, 25 August 2018 (MDT)

This page is loaded as the initial preview when you use the "create new class" button on 5e Classes.
It feeds off two different guides to make one preview page, which is why it exists. That purpose might seem more meaningful if one believe guides shouldn't be haphazardly fused. - Guy 12:00, 25 August 2018 (MDT)
Oh neat. Two questions then. Should it be appearing under the 5th edition Guidelines then? And should we do this for other pages like races, backgrounds, deities? —ConcealedLightChatmod.png (talk) 20:25, 25 August 2018 (MDT)
For the first question, well, uh, it already does, doesn't it? Since you changed Class Do's and Don'ts (5e Guideline) to a redirect, this template transposes all of the convoluted 5e Class Design Guide into the preview. Needless to say the 5e Class Design Guide appears under 5e guidelines already.
In my opinion it's pretty awkward to include the entire 5e Class Design Guide in the preview, but I had assumed you knew about this when fusing all those pages together. For the record, I still disagree with fusing them in that manner.
For the second question, 5e Feat Add Instructions already exists. I have no opposition to moderate-length "add instructions" pages for races, spells, and the like. If they're done well it could be useful. I believe if such pages exist they should be concise, like the feats one is, and like Class Do's and Don'ts (5e Guideline) used to be. Splicing something like the entire convoluted 5e Class Design Guide or 5e Race Design Guide into a preview would not be ideal. At most, the "Add Instructions" should include a link to the full design guide, rather than a transclusion. - Guy 21:04, 25 August 2018 (MDT)
Poorly worded that first question. A less ambiguous version would be "Should this page have the same categories as the 5e Class Design Guide as it turns up next to it in the DnD_Guidelines section?" I agree that it does seem like a bit much despite my love for the way the class design guide is presented. I agree that shortening it down and making similarly condensed versions for the various previews that link to their originals is a good idea that probably should be implemented. Would you be interested in collaborating on something like this? I understand if not with how volatile you said your work can be. —ConcealedLightChatmod.png (talk) 23:32, 25 August 2018 (MDT)
Oh, I misunderstood what you were initially asking. You're correct; this page shouldn't have those categories. I took the liberty of slapping noincludes onto the 5e Class Design Guide. Once the software catches up, this page won't have categories other than Category:5e and Category:Instructions.
I would be interested in contributing to concise "Instruction" pages for races, spells, weapons, and possibly magic items. I would also like to see a shortened version of these class instructions, though previous events led me to believe any work I would've made towards that goal would have simply been undone. - Guy 12:27, 26 August 2018 (MDT)
GJ. As of last night, I no longer have access to the internet at home (house got hit by lightning and now my router is fried) so I'll endevour to get started on it once I've sorted out this hickup. Look forward to seeing your edits until then. —ConcealedLightChatmod.png (talk) 20:14, 26 August 2018 (MDT)
