Quality Article Nomination[edit]

Featured article candidate .png This article is a current quality article nominee as of 06:05, 13 March 2020 (MDT). Quality articles exemplify D&D Wiki's very best work, and therefore must meet the quality article criteria. Please discuss the page's merits below.

Historical weapon useful for vanilla campaigns, balanced and stable. Marasmusine (talk) 06:05, 13 March 2020 (MDT)

  • Oppose — While this weapon has good lore, its niche is pretty small and bland. This weapon's damage and properties are basically the same as the greatclub with the only other real difference between the two weapons being weight and cost, which I don't believe is really enough for this weapon to be unique enough to become a quality article. --Blobby383b (talk) 23:32, 1 December 2021 (MST)
Uniqueness isn't a QA criteria. QA is intended to indicate that the item can be safely put into a vanilla campaign. Ideally, every item on the wiki should either be a QA or otherwise have a design disclaimer/part of a sourcebook/specific campaign. Marasmusine (talk) 00:46, 2 December 2021 (MST)
I think this might fit better on the Weapon Alternatives (5e Other)? It seems close to a war pick or something (save being two-handed)... 4e handles unique mundane weapons much better so this comes across as more redundant in 5e.--Yanied (talk) 10:44, 2 December 2021 (MST)
It is likely a difference of opinion, but I don't believe every good page should become a quality article. Quality articles are just one step below featured articles which are the best of the best pages on the wiki and meant for smaller pages which can't become featured articles. --Blobby383b (talk) 12:14, 2 December 2021 (MST)
Well, okay, that wasn't my intent when I devised QA, I just wanted a better way for readers to look at, say, 5e Martial Melee Weapons and know straight away which entries are "safe". Maybe I should have come up with a more appropriate category name! But I appreciate that we are a committee and if QAs are seen as "FA-lite" I won't fight it. Marasmusine (talk) 01:40, 3 December 2021 (MST)
Yeah, QAs just sorted happened. Having a portion of pages that are "safe" to use makes a lot of sense, but so far it seems like the category has evolved. Either way, I still believe a ton of potential pages can become QA's. --Blobby383b (talk) 10:13, 3 December 2021 (MST)
