From Source

Swampert is a large amphibian creature with a primarily cobalt-blue body and four limbs, including two long forelimbs and short, thickset back legs. Swampert is nominally bipedal, able to stand on its three-toed feet. But on land, it generally assumes a posture crouched over on all fours. It has orange conical gills that protrude from round patches on either side of its face. Two large fan-like black fins extend from the top of its orange eyes to the back of its head. Similarly, a black fan-like tail fin extends upward from its tail-end. Swampert has a lighter colored underside as well as orange ridged padding on its forearms and thighs. Strangely, Some specimens have been found to have a pink colored skin instead of blue, white, and black.

When it mega-evolves, swampert gains considerable bulk. Its upper body and arms become more muscular, bulging compared to its squat lower body. the orange padding on its legs vanish, but it gains two additional patches of orange padding on each wrist and another patch on each shoulder. This padding and its gills become a darker, redder shade of orange, while the gills are now larger and bulbous, with filaments extending past its mouth. The black fins on its head are thicker and now extend down past its shoulders. The black tail fin is still shaped like an upward-turned fan, but it now forms a short ridge that extends up to this Pokémon's forehead, flanked on either side by the aforementioned head-fins

History[edit]

Swampert are a species native to the tropical Hoenn archipelago. They thrive in the marshy areas of the region, but are still quite rare. It is speculated they used to make nests on beautiful beaches until human tourism drove them inland. Their offspring of mudkip and pubescent marshtomp are more commonly seen, particularly in the rainy season. when it is dry, they recede into the cooler mud away from shore. These versatile creatures are documented to thrive in all bodies of water and excel in drier times. Being one of the larger aquatic creatures inland, swampert were often known to be territorial enough to drive other creatures away from their mud spots. They frequently shared ponds abutting poison types, as poison did not bother them very much. They have sometimes used their super strength to unblock human dams or even rip out supports from lake housing. due to their aquatic prowess, it is hard to catch the perpetrator after the deed.

Society[edit]

Since swampert are rare, they are usually solitary leaders over schools of mudkip babies, followed by deputy marshtomps. They prefer not to interact with humans and lay low in places that are covered, damp, and wet. A swampert's fins act as sensors of movements in water, allowing them to sense predators. They are never quite afraid to fight, and swampert males who meet will often wrestle for a mate. Their fighting is said to be able to crack riverbeds. The one thing that deters these watery behemoths is hot weather, particularly the sites in the Hoenn where it is dry, like the desert, or the volcano. Their amphibious skin is prone to cracking in such circumstances, though they can easily take mud baths to refresh themselves.

Swampert Names[edit]

Swampert know Aquan and Terran. They are not familiar with Common due to their seclusion. Their names are often gruff, short and perceived as powerful. Weaker swampert that are dominated may be dubbed an embarrassing nickname by the victor. Some mates may fight at first to test boundaries, similarly allowing the victor to name the loser. It usually goes along the lines of "wimp".
