Storm (5e Deity)
Storm[edit]
Alignment. Neutral Good
Domains. Tempest, War, Unity, Strength
Divine Rank. Lesser Deity
- Appearance
Storm's humanoid form depicts him as he was during his time as a mortal, a tall-ish Aasimar with long flowing white hair, a faint glowing halo, and bright golden eyes. Storm also wears a black spectral robe-like armor with the trims glowing with an arcane blue energy.
- Birth
Storm was born to the goddess Sune as a result of a love affair with a human man, in whose care he was left shortly after being born. Storm took to adventuring as a means of proving his worth to his mother and his divine heritage. Storm faced several hardships during his travels, and despite his lack of intelligence, his heart was always in the right place, and he never hesitated for a moment to put himself into harms way to defend those he was close to.
- Prior to Divinity
Prior to becoming a minor god, Storm adopted a half-medusa child, Trinity, who became his first priest after accompanying him on many of his adventures, Storm also became married to the tiefling Mahogany, a descendant from one of the minor noble houses of Avernus, with whom he fathered six children, who were known to be the first of the Nephelim.
Throughout his adventuring career, Storm became close with his mother, Sune, as well as several other Gods and god-like deities, whom bore witness to his trials of strength, hardship, love, and heart, and were the advocates to Storm's case for rising to divinity.
- Deitization, Domains
After proving his worth to the gods, Storm was allowed to ascend to divinity, becoming a minor god with direct dominion over dueling and rivalry, decreeing that strength can be found amongst those you can exchange sparring with. Storm finds the art of dueling, especially amongst rivals, to be one of the most sacred forms of understanding your fellow man/woman, often challenging mortals he finds particularly strong to duels.
- It should be noted that if these duels are accepted, and then interrupted by an outside source(such as the other duelists' friends helping), Storm considers this treason against his domain, with the punishment being death for all involved members of the violating party.
Storm's icon can be identified as a pair of crossed fists with cackling electrical energy coursing around them.
- Worship, Temples, Priests
Worship of Storm is rare, with the amount of priests/priestesses that preach for him numbering less than a dozen, and are often people whom he has directly helped.
Temples dedicated to Storm are small, usually either tavern-like in appearance/function, or are arenas where duels are held in Storm's honor.
- Encountering Storm
Whilst in his humanoid form, he is often mistaken as a traveling adventurer, and often asked for assistance as a result. Storm, upon receiving these requests, will seek out nearby adventurers to join him on these tasks, and allowing them to take the physical rewards, claiming he is simply happy to help, and happy to make new friends.
Storm often finds himself gravitated towards fighting rings, rejoicing in the power and strength found there, and occasionally participates, lowering the power of his humanoid form to similar to his opponents to keep things fair. Storm considers anyone he has exchanged blows with to be amongst the best of his friends, and often greets these friends by delivering an unarmed blow to their face, expecting one in return.
- (after a few tragically-fatal incidents regarding people who were not strong enough to withstand this blow, Storm will gauge the strength of his blow to that of the strength of the recipient to avoid doing lethal damage)
- Those who have been marked by Storm via this way will feel the imprint of his fist cackle with energy and glow brightly upon their cheek while channeling any ability granted by Storm(such as domain spells, channel divinity, etc)
- Also to be noted, Storm will greet his own family( including his wife, children, and mother), friends, and other gods in this way.
- Aligning with Storm
- To get on Storm's good side, one must have a good heart, and care for their friends and loved ones. Storm is not able to be bribed by material things, though he will often accept nearly any challenge to a one on one duel made against him, and has a soft spot for tea(though he often will refer to it as soup).
- Boon, Benefits, etc
- Potential gifts or stories that Storm may grant in exchange for favors, completing tasks for him, or other reasons can include:
- Bottomless Waterskin of Soup - a well-made waterskin, the nozzle branded with his symbol, filled with strongly-brewed tea(alcoholic or not is DM's choice)
- Echo Gauntlets - a pair of embossed magical gauntlets that can add +1-+3 to unarmed strikes, as well as applying any physical damage dealt by unarmed strikes a second time to targets hit with unarmed attacks
- Power Word:Soup - a spell of his own creation. One free cast per long rest, using CHAmod as the spellcasting modifier. This spell can also be cast using spell slots if the receiver is capable of casting spells of this level, as well as using their own spellcasting modifier.
